The perfect tea-infused cake to celebrate National Tea Day!
National Tea Day is coming up in the UK and what better way to celebrate it than with some fabulous Darling Grey tea-infused cake!
If you love citrusy and floral flavors, you’ve got to try this yogurt cake I made! This tea was inspired by Whittard Darling Grey tea, which has such a refreshing mix of orange, lemon, and bergamot flavors!
I thought it would be perfect in a light, orange yogurt cake, and I was right—it turned out amazing! This cake is fresh, fragrant, and so easy to make.
Whittard Darling Grey Tea is what makes this cake so good!
The Whitard Darling Grey tea is a twist on the classic Earl Grey with lovely hints of orange blossom, orange peel, lemon peel, and a touch of bergamot.
This tea feels like a bright burst of refreshing citrus while still feeling light and fresh.
I couldn’t stop thinking about how these flavors would taste really good in a yogurt cake. So I gave it a try and it turned out beautifully!
I added orange zest, yogurt, crushed cardamom seeds for extra flavor, and some silvered almonds for crunch.
You can also top it with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or sweet cream, thin orange slices, and mint leaves, making it even more delicious.
The result is a sweet, tangy, light, and refreshing tea-flavored cake. It’s the perfect thing to make when you want a light dessert to treat yourself, or for an afternoon tea party.
This cake is really simple to make yet feels so fancy! Whether you’re having a tea party or just need a treat for yourself, this cake is a winner!

- 2 tbsp Slivered almonds
Toppings:
- Vanilla ice cream/Sweet cream
- Thinly sliced oranges
- Fresh mint leaves
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 175°C (350°F). Take out all your ingredients 30 minutes before baking so they reach room temperature.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together yogurt and oil until smooth.
- Add eggs, sugar, and vanilla extract, then whisk again until fully combined.
- Zest one orange.
- Take out the seeds from two cardammom pods and crush it using a mortar and pestle or spice grinder.
- Add the contents of three Whittard Darling Grey tea bags and crush it with the cardamom seeds.
- Add the orange zest and slivered almonds to the wet mix and stir well.
- In another bowl, mix together flour, crushed tea, crushed cardamom seeds, baking powder, and salt.

- Let the cake cool for 15 minutes before slicing.
- Serve each slice with a dollop of ice cream or sweet cream, topped with thin orange slices, and fresh mint leaves.
