Whittard Marrakech Mint Tea Review
Overview:
The Whittard Marrakech Mint Green tea is just the perfect tea for relaxing on a lazy Sunday. Imagine curling up in bed with some light reading to accompany your tea as you prepare for a glorious, guilt-free nap!
As you sip on this tea, you can feel the stress of the week dissolving from your shoulders.
The Wittard Marrakech Mint is inspired by Moroccan mint tea (also known as Maghrebi mint tea/Algerian mint tea), popular in the North African region. This is essentially Chinese gunpowder green tea brewed with spearmint leaves and sugar.
Since I have yet to try Moroccan mint tea myself, I can not speak to the authenticity of the Marrakech Mint. But I can tell you that it is a pretty good tea!

Brewing Conditions:
Green tea is usually brewed at a lower temperature to avoid the bitter-tasting notes. You want to brew the Marrakech Mint at 80°C for 3 mins, with a lid, to get a strong, minty, and flavorful cup of tea.
While the traditional Moroccan mint tea is enjoyed with sugar, this tea is best enjoyed without sugar to appreciate the full flavor.
Aroma (5/5):
As soon as you open the Marrakech Mint box, you will be hit with the strong scent of mint leaves. The aroma of the brewed tea is also very fresh and calming.
Taste (5/5):
The taste of the Marrakech Mint green tea is almost like drinking liquid polo, but not in an off-putting way. It will immediately lift your spirits. After the first few steps, I could feel my shoulders relax and drop involuntarily.
There is also a very soothing aftertaste. I can’t taste much of the green tea since the flavor of the mint is so strong, but I’m not complaining.
Packaging (4/5):
The packaging of Whittard Marrakech Mint tea features a calming green design, with an illustration of the historic Pavilion amidst the beautiful Menara Gardens of Marrakech.
This box is part of the larger Whittard Famous Tea Collection, which is beautifully presented as a gift set.
The packaging is eco-friendly, with the teabags and box being 100% compostable. Additionally, the card is recyclable and FSC-certified.
The round teabags are sealed in aluminum foil but not individually wrapped. Once opened, it’s best to store the tea in an airtight container to preserve freshness.
This could be a bit inconvenient for those who, like me, receive the tea as part of a larger collection. Since this particular tea came with nine other varieties, I had to find a suitable airtight jar each time I opened a new box.
The box also highlights Whittard’s commitment to the Ethical Tea Partnership, though it does not specify the origin of the green tea used, which would have been helpful for tea enthusiasts interested in the sourcing details.
Value for Money (4.5/5):
The Whittard Famous Tea Collection is priced at £28, containing 9 boxes with 20 teabags each. This works out to around USD 4 per box, which seems like a good value for a tea like this.
For an even better deal, you can purchase a larger box of Marrakech Mint with 50 teabags, priced at around USD 8.70, offering a lower price per teabag.
Caffeine Level: Medium
The Marrakech Mint tea’s caffeine level is medium, so it could serve as a nice pick-me-up in the middle of the day.
However, this is the perfect tea to unwind in the evening at the end of a particularly stressful day.
Food Pairings:
Mint pairs really well with citrusy fruits like strawberries or raspberries. But honestly, the Marrakech Mint tea is best enjoyed as a standalone.
